Job Description: Racetrack Barns Maintenance

Employer: Wyoming Downs Racetrack Reports To: Barns Team Lead

Overview:

The Barns Maintenance team member is responsible for supporting day-to-day maintenance and operations within the barn area at Wyoming Downs Racetrack. This hands-on position includes operating equipment, performing general repairs, building and maintaining facilities, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for horses, trainers, and staff. The Barns Maintenance worker plays a critical role in preparing the facility for training, live racing, and handling emergency tasks as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate tractors, skid steers, and telehandlers to support barn and track operations.
• Pick up and haul off manure piles from designated areas; report any trash or foreign material found to the Barns Team Lead.
• Repair and maintain horse stalls, barn infrastructure, and fencing as needed.
• Assist in the construction of new barns or structural improvements.
• Respond to and assist in repairs of broken water lines or other emergency maintenance issues.
• Back up and maneuver trailers safely and efficiently.
• Perform general handyman tasks throughout the barn and stable areas.
• Follow all safety procedures and operational protocols established by Wyoming Downs Racetrack.
• On race days, remain on standby to assist other departments such as Security in case of emergency or staffing needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces and equipment areas.

Work Schedule:

Work begins approximately 30 minutes prior to the end of morning training and continues until all assigned tasks are completed for the day. On race days, the same routine applies, and team members must remain available to support other areas as needed.

Qualifications:

• Quick learner with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Experience operating equipment such as tractors, skid steers, or telehandlers is preferred.
• Background in general maintenance, construction, or facility operations is an asset.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Capable of following directions, working independently, and maintaining a team-oriented attitude.
• Proficient in backing up and maneuvering trailers safely.
• Must be able to obtain a Wyoming Gaming Commission License.
